Throughout the 2010 and 2011 school year, the network team will remain busy installing and upgrading network electronics. We are currently installing material for eRate year 12 in the seventeen schools that qualified for upgrades. These upgrades include new network switches, new network drops, wireless networking, Voice over IP phone systems, and videoconferencing equipment. This upgrade has been a year long process and has not been completed as of April 2011. In addition to eRate, we have been upgrading most school's networks prior to the Active Directory deployment.

The network team has been using a network monitoring software called What's Up Gold over the last few years. This enables us to monitor outages on individual school networks remotely thus allowing us to see problems as soon as schools begin to have network difficulties. What's Up Gold has enabled us to have a quicker response time to get to individual schools when we see an issue with the school's network.

Requests regarding Interactive Boards
All requests regarding Active Boards and Smart Boards need to be made using the Maintenance Direct system instead of School Dude.

How to request new network drops
If you need new network outlets installed in your school, please make those requests by using system Maintenance Direct system, rather than School Dude.  This will get those requests into the system faster than using School Dude.
