Department Tasks
Department Announcements eRate year 11The network portion of the eRate upgrades for Westview, Belle Morris, Maynard, Christenberry, and Pond Gap have been completed. We have a few other items to complete for these sites like wireless networking remain to be completed.
Network UpgradesIn the spring and summer of 2009, the network team will be doing network upgrades in the cabinets of many schools. We will be installing eRate year 11 in the five schools that qualified for eRate funding. These eRate upgrades will provide us with newer equipment that will allow us to upgrade the network cabinets of other schools. We will attempt to install those upgrades at times where there will be very little downtime for the schools.
Eureka! We have some new cablesYes, sports fans we have got some new patch cables securely nestled in our warehouse. Our patch cable lineup is now led by the soon to be famous 14 ft. cable in a beautiful shade of blue. The old stand-by 10 ft. cable and ever popular 7 ft. cable are also available to meet the connection needs of all of Knox County.
We Now have Mini-SwitchesWe recently got a new supply of 3Com Mini-Switches. If you need one of these handy devices, please send a request via School Dude. To get a speedier response time, if you will include the room number where the Mini-Switch will be located in your request.
