This summer it is business as usual for what we do as the network team. Active and Smart boards are being installed based on delivery, site survey availability, and installer schedules. A private vendor has been doing drop and cable maintenence at several schools and a second vendor has been checkiing maintenance of switches and network cabinets.

We are also upgrading switches in several middle schools to remove some outdated equipment. We have either completed or are in the process of upgrading the networks at Farragut, Karns, Holston, Gresham, Bearden and Halls Middle Schools. In addition to those upgrades, we will begin installations for eRate year 12 later this summer at 12 schools. These upgrades will include new switches, some additional network drops, new network cabinets, and videoconferencing. Work will commense on eRate year 12 when materials are received and inventoried.

We currently are running low on Mini-Switches and long cables (15 ft. and 25 ft.). We will announce when we get more of these in stock. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Requests regarding Interactive Boards
All requests regarding Active Boards and Smart Boards need to be made using the Maintenance Direct system instead of School Dude.

How to request new network drops
If you need new network outlets installed in your school, please make those requests by using system Maintenance Direct system, rather than School Dude.  This will get those requests into the system faster than using School Dude.
